- I am a fast learner? :seriousf:
After hearing a good part of the PP I am not concerned at all about the 'sound of the effects' - they are all excellent no doubt. I'm sure we didn't cover all of the possibilities, sounds and effects but we didn't need to.
I was pleasantly surprised by the distortion. My experience is that they usually are garbage in multi-effect units (G-Force for example is real horrible) but I could create a wide range of sounds easily - and when Theo showed me how to over-drive to rest of the circuit (not sure about the param-name but its the last one at the bottom right) heavy saturated sounds were easily created. That sounded really good. When we later plugged in my TriAxis THAT sounded a little better - but mainly by character not quality. Because PP is SO silent I discovered (to my horror! :) that the TriAxis generates a fair amount of noise in some settings.
We also listened to the phaser, flanger and chorus effects. I am not a great fan of phasers, but i could get used to the one in the PP! Its excellent and can be real subtle. At first I did not even recognize it as a phaser because I wasn't hearing the modulating background noise! :seriousf:
Also played around with the wah a little - very nice. I really liked the frequency range - some wah are too high for my taste but not here. I thought the auto-wah was very 'loud' in lower frequencies? The plop was too loud compared to the rest of the note. It does show the dynamic capabilities, though.
One of my first thought was to have some sort of calibration for the pressure pads :-) You know I think one expression pedal is not enough so I hope that the midi mod will allow you to assign any CC to at least 2 perhaps even 3 or 4 params...? The only other disadvantage is that you need to press twice to select a sound (in browse mode - don't know how it is in other modes). And the tap-tempo with the expression pedal? Not sure about that one. I was trying to make full cycles (min-max) with the pedal and that is a lot more effort than just tapping a button.
So Max, I wish to complement you on having created a sublime piece of kit.
About the editor: It's not that I cannot learn the PP menu's -from what I saw they're easy enough - it's more a question of comfort and ease. I don't like sitting bend-over "programming through a mail slot" (that's what I call if you can access only a small portion at a time of a really large set of data) finding my sounds. I would rather sit back an tweak here and there with the mouse on my computer.
Perhaps you could consider making the USB protocol an open standard so people who want to have the option to create something for themselves?
