1955 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop
This is an 'under the bed' example & could not be much cleaner. There is not even any finish checking on it.
This was purchased from orig. owner 7 yrs. ago, who had bought it in 1955 with the intent of learning to play, but ended up in the military, having a family, etc. & never really got around to it. luckily, he took very good care of his guitar the whole time. Pics speak for themselves. Guitar is 100% original, including the case.
Serial number is 5 9294. I do not have pot codes, but guarantee that all parts + solder joints are 100% original. This guitar is pristine & unchanged in any way. The neck angle & string height & are fine. frets are nearly new. guitar is virtually unplayed. You will be hard pressed to find another one this clean. 8.5 lbs on the digi bathroom scale.
There were 862 Les Pauls shipped in 1955. One would guess that approx. 1/2 of them had the wraparound tailpiece, making this a very rare guitar (esp. in this condition). According to records, there were only only 2300 goldtops w. wraparounds ever made (from '53 - '55). There were 1500 bursts (just to give you some perspective).
"Based upon examination of the photos, the owner’s description appears to be correct. It is extremely unusual to find a Gibson Les Paul of this age in such pristine, virtually unplayed condition. It conforms to the typical specifications of early to mid 1955, with carved maple top with gold lacquer finish, mahogany neck and back with clear “natural” lacquer finish, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with white binding and pearloid trapezoid inlays, unbound peghead with pearl Gibson logo and silk-screened Les Paul Model logo, white-trimmed truss rod cover, Kluson Deluxe tuners, two white plastic-covered single coil “soap bar” P-90 pickups, single-ply white pickguard, white surround plate around the toggle switch, stud-mounted bridge, nickel-plated metal hardware, barrel-shaped clear-top yellow tone and volume knobs
Ik heb zwaar het vermoeden dat hij nep is...
Hadden ze toen niet smallere headstocks en een andere trussrod cover?
