Absynthe is illegal in America and since I have never travelled outside the country, I have never had the opportunity to try it. But it is a common theme in early american literature, so I am very curious as to what it's like. Would anyone care to describe its effects to me?

oh boy!
an Absynthe thread !!
This place is becoming more like HC every day ;)
Jacques (the french boutique builder) on HC is quite the expert, if i'm not mistaking.
Never tasted the stuff myself, but if you'd have to believe the imagery of Van Gogh, it can be quite hallucinatory.
19th century fin de siecle psychedelia !!

i went to Prague for a week and they sell it there like beer :o)
but much more expensive ...
they also give you a bit of sugar with it because it has very much alcohol in it ..
They say van gogh cut off his ear because he was drinking to much of it ...
i drunk a couple of glasses and actualy, i think you'd better drink some eau de collogne (hugo boss or so :o)) coz it tastes the same (i am overreacting a little bit) ..
I did not cut something off and i'm still alive, i think you can compare it with some vodka or stroRhum (80%)...
It's some pretty heavy stuff and a bit of a drug I think. It makes you hallucinate in some sort of way with a feeling 2 time worse than being totally wasted, except for the nauseousness and the headaches.
Don't expect too much of it. Marihuana is legal here too, but that too doesn't have the same effect the way you sometimes see in movies or read in books.
