Connectie Head - Cabinet

Hallo,

ik kocht pas een ENGL Powerball, waarmee ik nu speel op een Marshall Cabinet 1960. Nu twijfel ik aan de uitleg die ik in de winkel kreeg over hoe ik die 2 met elkaar moet verbinden.

De ENGL Powerball heeft twee 4 Ohm inputs, twee 8 Ohm inputs en één 16 Ohm input. Op het Marshall Cabinet zijn twee inputs waar 8 Ohm bijstaat langs de bovenkant; aan de onderkant staat er respectievelijk 8 ohm input en 16 ohm input. Vooral dit laatste vind ik verwarrend.

Dus kan iemand me aub vertellen hoe ik:

ten 1e: 1 Marshall cabinet correct aansluit op de Powerball
ten 2e: 2 Marshall cabinets correct aansluit op de Powerball

Welk type Marshall kast heb je?? Is het eentje dat je mono/stereo kan schakelen?

Ik denk dat ze 16 ohm zijn dus moet je de 16 Ohm input gebruiken. Gebruik je 1 kast dan sluit je deze aan op de 16ohm uitgang van de Powerball, gebruik je 2 kasten dan moet je ze op de 2 8 Ohm uitgangen hangen.

Ik heb een Marshall cab dat je mono/stereo kan schakelen ja.

Weet je dat zeker van die Ohm's? In de winkel zeiden ze dat ik de 4 Ohm van de Powerball moest gebruiken nr de 4 Ohm van de Marshall als ik 1 cab gebruik.

Idd verwarrend, die onderste inputs van je Marshall cab, kun je schakelen tussen 8 en 16 ohm????
Als die Marshall 8 ohm is kan je 1 cab gewoon aan een van die 8 ohm uitgangen van de Engl hangen, maar ik weet niet precies hoe het werkt als je het in stereo schakelt.
Maar als de cab 16 ohm is volg dan het advies van lord Riffenstein.

je kunt niet schakelen tussen 8 en 16 !! Die 8 ohm is alleen als je stereo speelt, dus je schuifje op je cabinet hebt verzet naar stereo. Je hebt dan beide kanten, dus 2x 8 Ohm !!!

Ah, ok, dus als ik met 1 cabinet speel, zet ik het schuifje op mono, en als ik met 2 cabs speel zet ik het op stereo?

Als ik het schuifje op mono zet heb ik dan 2 mogelijkheden?
Ten eerste: Connectie Head 4Ohm en Cab 4Ohm
Ten tweede: Conectie Head 16Ohm en Cab 16Ohm
Klopt dit?

schuifje op stereo betekend dat je vanuit je top 2 speakersnoeren laat komen en die links en rechts in je cab propt...beide kanten zijn dan 8 ohm

Ok, zover ben ik mee.

Stel nu dat ik maar 1 snoertje gebruik om head en cabinet te verbinden. Dan zet ik het schuifje dus op mono. Moet ik dan in mijn cab de 4 ohm input of de 16 ohm input gebruiken? En welke input gebruik ik dan op mijn head?

2.1.3. Impedance Selection

"I noticed on my JCM900 model 2100 SL-X amp that it has two positions for impedance: 4(16) & 8. What does the 4(16) mean? Someone told me that in this position, it "knows" what kind of cabinet (either 4 or 16) ohms that is plugged into it. Is this incorrect?"

There is no way for the amp to "know" what impedance your cabinet is, hence the need for the switch in the first place. However, there is no one right answer to what the impedance selector should be set for, since Marshall uses two types of impedance selectors on JCM 900 tube models, depending on whether your amp is a combo or not.

According to Marshall "Guitar and Bass Amplification" catalog M0001/91/1, page 8, the impedance selector choices are 4 or 8 ohms on combo models and 8 or 16 ohms on amplifier heads.

Just to double-check, the SL-X owner's handbook verifies what's said above:

"Impedance Selector Switch - Two-way switch for matching the amplifier to speaker impedance. Amp heads feature 8 or 16 Ohm operation. Combo versions feature 4 or 8 Ohm options."

The confusion stems from the parentheses. Marshall actually labels the rear panels of the Dual Reverb and SL-X amps with one setting for "(4) 16" and one for "8". If you pay no attention to the parentheses, slide the switch to 16 if you use a 16 ohm cab, such as a single JCM 900 1960A (set in mono mode, and using the 16 ohm jack). If you have an 8 ohm cab, such as the Park G412, then slide the impedance selector to 8 ohms. Remember that when using two cabinets of the same impedance in parallel (i.e., two cabinets are "daisy chained together"), the impedance is halved. Thus two 16 ohm cabs require you to set the impedance selector on your amp to the 8 ohm position.

To the point dus: Cab op 16 zetten en in de 16-ingang op de powerball...

Nog niet nadenken over het aansluiten van 2 cabs ;-)
Waarschijnlijk zijn de 8 en 4 ohm inputs op de powerball parallel geschakeld. Dit wil zeggen dat je 2 (mono) 16-ohm cabs moet aansluiten op de 8 ohm-inputs.
