Hallow!
Een paar weken geleden is mijn eerste custom gitaar bij me afgelopen. Wat mij betreft reden voor een HNGD draadje (wel in het engels ben ik bang)
Allereerst even een plaatje om alvast een idee te krijgen...

Now about the specs: I was looking for a 7 string superstrat guitar with a fixed bridge, to use on and off stage with my band. Another feature I was looking into was a multiscale guitar. When looking for companies and luthiers I came into contact with Serpentine Guitars. They could grant all my wishes for my first custom guitar, without being ridiculously expensive. Furthermore communication with them went great so I decided to go ahead with them and see if a custom guitar spec'd to all my wishes could become a reality.
I wanted the guitar to be well balanced tonewise and have great looks as well. After a lot of deliberation I decided on these specs:
- Black limba body
- Claro walnut top
- 5 piece wenge and bubinga bolt-on neck
- Ebony fretboard
- Reverse headstock
- White binding for body and neck
- Black limba with walnut veneer knobs
- Black hardware
- ABM single saddles
- Jumbo stainless steel frets
- 25.5" - 27.8" scale
- Green luminlay side dots
- Custom Kyokushinkai (my other passion) inlay in white mother of pearl
- Hipshot grip lock tuners
- Bare Knuckle Nailbomb alnico bridge pickup (direct mounted)
- Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat neck pickup (direct mounted)
- 1 volume and 1 tone knob, with coil split.
- 3 way toggle switch
- Satin tru-oil finish
During the building process I got plenty of updates and pictures. If I had any questions they would be answered within 12 hours pretty much every time. There was some unfortunate delay at the end of the building process, but I guess these things can happen. There was always an open communication, which is most important to me.
As said the guitar arrived at my home a few weeks ago. After unpacking it, I was very happy with it right away. It plays like a dream, and it sounds pretty much the way I wanted it to. I had to get used to the pronounced mids a bit, but the lows and highs are well balanced. Because this guitar being my first mahogany (black limba) like guitar it isn't really strange I had to get used to the mids. After a few weeks I'm very happy with it's complete sound spectrum though!
Overall I'm incredibly happy with this guitar: it plays like a dream, sounds great and is pretty versatile. After using the guitar during a few gigs, I got quite a few people asking what I guitar I play, which put a smile on my face of course: always nice to know the guitar I play raises some eyebrows (positively speaking).
If you're looking for a custom guitar, I can really recommend Serpentine Guitars!
Now, for the rest of the pictures...
