Hallo allemaal,
Ik hoorde laatst van goud gecoate snaren, dus ben ik even gaan kijken...
Nu heb ik een paar vragen:
Zijn gouden snaren nu echt goed of speel je die gouden coating er zo van af?
En is de toon echt zoveel warmer als ze zeggen?
Ik kwam ook dit bericht tegen op een forum:
These were originally sold under another name (Maxima Gold) back in the late 1980's-1990's. (Check out Ebay item #260061864949 to see an original ad for these.) I used these for a good 10 years, so I have a little experience with them.
There is a HUGE difference between these and regular strings. The most obvious difference is how "buttery soft" they feel right out of the package. There is little to no rigidity and they feel broke in as soon as you put them on. You definitely notice a difference in your speed because they almost play themselves.
The next obvious difference is how they sound. Very lush tonally. They add a good 20-30% sustain to anything you put them on for at least the first few weeks. Of course this tapers off as you wear them out, but that can only be expected.
These strings last FAR longer than regular strings. As I recall, they will last easily for months at a time with regular play - FAR beyond regular string life - if you wipe them good. (Otherwise they will grime up and lose luster like any string.) They are PLATED with 24K gold (they are not 'pure' gold) and magnify your tone in a very sweet fashion. The gold plating fends off oxidation for an incredible amount of time. They feel broke in out of the package, and sound fresh for months - how can you beat that!?
I registered here just today to respond to this thread because I wanted to thank the OP for finding the 'new' brand name. An old metal head from the 80's, I fell away from the music business when I started a family years ago, and when I finally got back around to playing - Maxima Gold's were sadly gone. I had heard that they sold out to another company due to lack of sales (likely because they cost far more than regular strings) and since the packaging looks identical to the original (just the name change), I am sure these are the same strings. It is funny, because these string were such an integral part of my sound back in the day that I have yet to feel good about my tone without them. (And now I have re-found them!)
These were (and hopefully still are), IMHO, the best strings ever made. If you are serious about your axe and your tone, by all means check a set out. You'll be seriously hooked.

Dat klinkt allemaal erg lovend... maar je moet je informatie nooit uit maar 1 of 2 bronnen halen dus... heeft iemand hier ook ervaring met dit soort snaren? En zoja, wat is dan het beste merk?
