Zelfde soort vraagje voor de bejubelde JJ tubes. Iedereen gaat er vanuit dat die vergelijkbaar is met de oude (goeie!) Tesla buizen, maar uit onderstaand verhaaltje maak ik op dat ook JJ gewoon een handelsnaam is, en dat JJ niet perse de "oude Tesla" hoeft te zijn. Naar welke inkoper de "echte" Tesla naar toe gaat (want ze produceren nog wel) is mij niet duidelijk. Weet iemand misschien hoe het zit.
Is er iemand met een goed referentiekader (bij voorkeur iemand die met RCA 6L6GC blackplates speelt) die mij kan vertellen hoe de JJ 6L6GC's zijn. Is er ook iets bekend over de GZ34's?
Ondestaand wat info van het net:
Czezchoslovakia originally had two primary tube factories, both called "Tesla". The first produced primarily military, industrial and transmitting tubes; this is the Chenetz plant. It has no mass-production capabilities or tooling as they still primarily produce broadcast tubes, klystrons etc. which are made to order and are basically a hand produced tube. The second was the mass production factory. When CZ split into to separate Soverign Nations, the Czech Republic and the Slovakian Republic, Slovakia is where the mass production factory is located, Czech Republic is where the Chenetz factory is. The Chenetz factory has retained the name "Tesla Vrsovice;" with the fall of the iron curtain and disappearance of any subsidies the mass production Slovakian plant fell on hard times in the early 1990s-- until a vast infusion of cash was provided by one Jan Jirco. (His initials of course are JJ!) The JJ plant caught the tube boom of the late 1990s and did very well. The Tesla Vrsovice plant only makes one tube that the JJ plant makes; the KT88. Tesla Vrsovice calls this tube the RE 40 AK. Just as JJ is basically a brand name owned by Mr. Jirco, so too is "Teslovak" owned by Penta Labs. They apply it quite liberally to tubes produced in the JJ factory, as well as to, if you can believe it, a Shuguang/Chinese KT88! (the GEC replica) The ECC803s as well as the 802s are reputedly made with the tooling Telefunken used to make their LEGENDARY ECC803s. They are identical in appearance, looking rather like a 6DJ8. I have heard 1970s gold pin Tesla ECC803s as well as the JJs; Surprisingly, there is little difference after breakin-- both are rather bright, tend to be quiet, and are a great bargain. For sonics, the Ei/Yugo ECC83 Telefunken copy slaughters the JJ. JJ has a great website, as does Eurotubes, which shows many great pix of the Slovakian Facility and give a brief history and virtual tour. I may not have the exact details 100%, but as the official hobby here on the Asylum is "noting" errors in posts, I'm sure any lapses will be duly highlighted. Chris
