ma, after checking some of your earlier postings, I have a slight idea about your setup and came to the conclusion that you play mostly at a moderate stage volume.

A: At higher volume levels, there is very little difference in volume between higher and lower output pickups.

B: Heavy, standard brass bridge mounts can cause some minor hum and minor losses in volume and highs.

C: Magnetic steel bridge mounts can cause quite some hum, and at higher volume levels, some microphonic squealing plus minor losses in highs.

D: Lightweight nonmagnetic 300 series stainless steel bridgemounts -- very quiet, no losses, no microphonics.

Taking A,B.C and D in consideration, I assume that there is a short over the pickup coil, and the lower coil (the hum canceller) picks up a very weak signal from the strings and will hum like a single coil.
