Hoi,
ik wil een hotplate aanschaffen voor volgende setups om te kijken (luisteren vnl.) wat er het best uitpakt.
(1) JCM800 -> Hotplate dummy load line out -> Shiva combo power amp in -> 16 Ohm speaker van Shiva Combo
(2) JCM800 -> Hotplate speaker out -> 16 Ohm speaker van Shiva Combo
Normaal gezien koop je dan een 16 Ohm Hotplate. Maar als ik nu later zou beslissen om een afzonderlijke cab bij te zorgen (2x12) zijn die toch meestal 8 Ohm? Dan moet ik m'n hotplate verkopen en een 8Ohm aanschaffen.
In de handleiding van de hotplate vond ik dit:
Q. Can I still use the Hot Plate if it has a different impedance than my amp?
A. ONLY if the impedance of the Hot Plate is EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN that of the amp. However, this will lessen the effectiveness of the Hot Plate’s tone controls.
Q. If I am using just one speaker cabinet, can I still use the Hot Plate if it has a different impedance than my speaker cabinet?
A. ONLY if the impedance of the speakers is equal to or greater than the amplifier, AND the impedance of the Hot Plate is equal to or greater than the amp. Again, this will lessen the effectiveness of the Hot Plate’s tone controls.
Dus:
Ohm_SPK >= Ohm_AMP
&&
Ohm_Hotplate >= Ohm_AMP
Het zou volgens hen dus mogelijk zijn om de 8 Ohm Hotplate (amp op 8 Ohm) aan een 16 Ohm speaker te hangen voor setup (2). Ik dacht dat dit gevaar opleverde voor doorslag in de outputtranny en wil m'n Bogner dus niet opblazen. Heeft iemand hier ervaring mee?
